Bfexplorer and Racing Post data bot

Bfexplorer is now able to load betfair betting forecast, it is a small step to enabling bot programmers the racingpost data as well.

If such forecast is available for a horse it is set the RunnerProperty.AverageOdds so bot can work with this value.

    Racing Post Data

Hi,Here are my thoughts regarding the use of the Racing Post website as an aid to betting and trading on Horse Racing. Since it's inception it has always given the most comprehensive information available for horse racing. It has numerous selection methods available IE.selections given by all the national newspaper's racing correspondents....the daily "Naps"table...selections from commercil tipsters and agencies plus from it's own correspondents and from several differing ratings methods based on race times, weight carried (Handicapping) together with the official rating (OR) which is compiled and published by Weatherby's (The official body of the Horse Racing Board). It also provides up to date news and reports covering all aspects of Horse Racing. In fact it gives so much detail and information it makes it difficult to know just where to start any evaluation for betting purposes. I myself use the site on a daily basis to go through the race cards and later on to follow the race commentary text if I a betting interest in the race,I also check the racing results.....I cannot remember ever using any of the tips or selection methods...basically because ther are so many...and like selections and tips from other sources there is not one or a combination of selection or tips that stand out as being better or the best.

    Betfair betting forecast

Hi Eric, I hope I will add the racingpost data into the bfexplorer soon. Today I tested the betfair betting forecast data in a simple solution on the 7 races only. My aim is to find a model where all executed trades will be closed before the official race start time.

In my test the bot managed to close such positions only for 2 races, the rest of races was closed (traded out) with profit during the in-play. That says at least one thing that odds range the betfair trading bot used correlates with entry odds at which the bot opened its positions.

So seven races gone with profit in all races on which this bot was trading, the profit: 89.68 Euro. I will keep testing this solution for couple days.

Racing Post Tipsters Selections and POSTDATA selection

After couple days of working on the racing post data parsing module, today is the first day of testing it. The racing post data which bfexplorer pro reads are Tipster Selections and POSTDATA with POSTDATA selection, the horse form is read from betfair.

In my todays test I use to lookup bot scripts with a different strategy of selection for qualifying horse, in both cases is used the trading bot (Place Bet and Close Position) backing on 2% profit, the stop loss is set to 20%.

    Racing Post Data

This project utilising selections and detail from the Racing Post could prove to be extremely interesting.I am not aware of the existance of any historical data concerning the winning performance of the selections from the RP race card or POSTDATA selections.Perhaps now we may find the answer to that.

    First results

Hi Eric, here are the first results, in all cases bot closed its position (traded out) before the race start so the trend is promising, but 3 races that is not enough to make some relevant conclusions.

The odds fluctuation is significant during the pre-race trading on both selections (Tipsters versus POSTDATA) if such selection falls to favorites.

Sedge 15:20 tipster’s favorite was Bay Cherry (41.67%) to Cave Hill (33.33%) the bot entered on the market backing the second favorite Bay Cherry at the moment.

The pre-race trend on Bay Cherry went into in-play, bot got a chance to trade out its position at the end of the race, Overlady won this race.

    Today's Results

I run two solutions today, the one selected Racing Post best tipster selection and the other one the POSTDATA selections.

In the first case program selected 10 races and in the POSTDATA solution 12 races, as those selections were not only from favorites it got bigger profit, in both cases was used the same trading bot: Place Bet and Close Position. I entered into the bots execution once on the race Sthl 14:00 where Vogarth was traded out in loss, my stop loss was set to 20%, so profit on this market: 139,72 should not be taken into the overall results.

    RacingPost data bot

Hi Stefan, The results obtained today seem to indicate that trading the Tipster & POSTDATA selections could be a viable method for trading. Is this due mainly to  selections being favs or near favs giving rise to trading oppurtunities from fluctuating prices.?

Hi Eric, you are right that most selections were favorites naturally from Tipsters selections but POSTDATA has also no favorite selections with good potential for trade out.

A selection process is one thing, a moment to enter on a market the other more important when trading, that is the way I will try to go with a trading bot, as for now all that was just blind attempt to enter on a market in believe to get on a trend, but it works with setting a reasonable profit level.

One day for testing is not enough I hope you joining me to test it more thoroughly.
