Bot Wizards and Bot Executor
Posted in From My Inbox by StefanBelo
Hi, I am sorry if these seem simple questions. I have watched your video tutorials but am probably one of your least computer able users!! Yesterday I ran the bot wizard to Place and Close Position on several horse races. The 1st 2 times it worked perfectly but the following few times it didn’t work at all, no back or lay?? I was convinced that I had done exactly the same things each time, a couple of times later it worked but it was very hit and miss. Also, could you tell me how to search for the place and close bets that I have already got 'running' or 'in the system'? And how to them edit them? What I am hoping to do is to place a back bet of between 1.08 and 1.12 and then close my position to give me a 5% return on my stake on every UK horserace. Am I best using Auto trader for that or the Place and Close position function?? I have been highlighting each horse in the race and submitting the same parameters for each. Is there a quicker way to do it?? I'm sure there is!! One last question, I can’t find the Output part of the screen. I have seen it in the video tutorials but haven’t been able to see any messages below the selections. Have I accidently hidden it?? Can you tell me how to find it? Sorry to ask so many questions but I really want to be able to use this software and subscribe every month. Many thanks for your help Regards Heather
The same built-in betfair bots are used in the Bfexplorer PRO, what differs is the way you can configure them and run. Basically you can do so using Bot Wizards or Trading strategies in the ladder toolbar, but the best way for you is to use the Bot Executor.
With the Bot Executor you can prepare any bot settings using either built-in bot scripts or customized one, so your possibilities are actually endless. With Bot Wizards you can set initial setting and then anytime you open the Bot Wizard it will open with your previous settings. If you used any time parameters then those parameters are absolute, so you have to change them for any market you will use it, any new market starts at different time, right?
With the Bot Executor time parameters are relative to the event start, so you set time as 2 minutes before an event start, or close position after 1 minute from the event start or before. When bot is execute it finds out on which market is running and recalculates every time parameter. The Bot Executor introduces market and selection criteria, and possibility to define on which runner you want to place your bet, then when executing such bot you just select a market and bot is executed automatically on selected runner, for instance if you want to place bet on favorite.
I do not know what parameters you set when running bot wizard on your selection, if the problem was in wrong time setting or in the odds range you could set, then the bet is place only when those two parameters met its settings.
Any placed bet is shown in the My Bets view, click on the menu item View/My Bets.
Read more here about My Bets view. Unmatched bets are displayed in the ladder, View/Trade the Selections, and all activity in the Bfexplorer PRO is presented on the Start Page.
Read more here about using the Start Page.
If you want to run the same bot strategy for each selection/each horse on the market, you can use the custom bot script to run your bot on each selection, please read more about it in this article on my blog:
Alternatively you can create your automated trading system utilizing the Trade Opportunity Lookup Service, please read more about it here:
When dealing with any automated system or with a bot you have to be aware of following facts:
Any bot works with betfair market data, those data are loaded by bot, or better to say by Bfexplorer PRO infrastructure, every time interval you set in the Refresh rate. If you use the default setting then it is every 1 second.
For markets where odds changes rapidly, bot actually works with historical data, because loading and processing betfair data takes some time as well, even if it is just couple mili-seconds. So in your scenario you should use parameter: PlaceBetImmediately
For closing your position, so the closing bet will be placed immediately after the opening bet is full matched, otherwise the bet will place at the moment when odds are offered at betfair.
When using any bot, mainly when you did not design it, you should know at least what strategy such bot uses, the Auto Trader bot offers bets to be first in queue, it is speculative type of bot, you should read more about it here:
When you open any bfexplorer application on the Start Page is displayed the product manual where you can find the Let's Get Started section where you can read about all base features. As all Windows applications the bfexplorer uses the menu, toolbars and popup menus, so basically just opening each menu you can find out what features the bfexplorer offers.
For instance, I believe you used to write your email to me in the Microsoft Outlook and as this application present data in many different views, you can find the menu View, as you can find it in Bfexplorer, so clicking on menu View you can see there thr menu item: Output which displays the Output view. All Views are presented in dockable windows so you can change the size or layout of these views, and switch them on/off, so only showing those which you will use.
For instance, on the screenshots below, you can see the layout of the Bfexplorer PRO, the way I use it.
